Each year, Asian Pacific American (APA) students from leading Bay Area law schools collaboratively organize the BAAPALSA Conference. The inaugural BAAPALSA Conference–Building Bridges–was held in 2001 to promote education, leadership, social awareness and community service as well as to foster communication and interaction among Asian Pacific American law students, attorneys, and community leaders.

Now in its fifteenth year, the BAAPALSA Conference has grown into the largest West Coast forum for APA law students and practitioners, with more than 250 attendees annually. Conference goals include (1) cultivating service-minded and socially conscious APA lawyers, (2) presenting a variety of future career options, and (3) fostering a sense of community and support among APA professionals and law students.

This year’s theme, Making Your Mark, recognizes the progress, challenges, and aspirations of Asian Pacific Americans in the legal field.

We are delighted to introduce the HONORABLE EDWARD M. CHEN as our keynote speaker this year.

Asian American Bar Association of the Greater Bay Area at Legally Asian, an event encouraging HS and college students to pursue a law degree! Legally Asian 2015 aims to expose college and high school students, as well as recent young graduates, to law school and the legal profession; to explain career options available with a law degree; and to discuss current issues that impact Asian and Pacific Islander communities. The conference featured distinguished panelists who have used their law degrees in a variety of ways. The panels will covered legal careers in the public and private sectors – including firm attorneys, public interest attorneys, government attorneys, judges, and in-house counsel – as well as career paths outside the “traditional” practice of law.

Also, a panel of Bay Area law students, including our very own Michelle Geronimo – PALS 1L Representative, shared their experiences from admission through graduation, and attendees got a taste of law school through an interactive mock class. In addition to the panels, attendees had the opportunity to meet and network with attorneys and law students during the lunch hour. All attendees were provided with a packet that will include tips on the admissions process and legal education.
