PALS attended the Minority Bar Coalition Unity Awards Night at UC Hastings – Louis B. Mayer Lounge last November 12, 2014. Abigail Rivamonte Mesa – FBANC’s previous president – received two Unity awards! One from AACTLA and one from FBANC!

MBC Unity Awards is a wonderful opportunity for each organization, association, or group in the MBC network to recognize one individual member that has exemplified dedication to the cause for diversity in the legal profession!

PALS attended USF Law’s discussion of the Philippine Immigration, Labor, and Employment in which Bill Tamayo of the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) showed clips from the PBS / Frontline documentary, Rape in the Fields, spoke about the plight of Philippine migrant farm workers and the broader struggle for immigrant workers’ rights and gender equality.

Our very own President, Rachelle Ann Uy, attended the 2014 NAPABA Convention as a “First Time Attendee” in Phoenix/Scottsdale, Arizona.  We can’t wait for 2015 NAPABA Rising Convention  in New Orleans! PALS REPRESENT!

The National Asian Pacific American Bar Association (NAPABA) is the national association of Asian Pacific American attorneys, judges, law professors, and law students. NAPABA represents the interests of over 40,000 attorneys and 67 state and local Asian Pacific American bar associations. Its members include solo practitioners, large firm lawyers, corporate counsel, legal service and non-profit attorneys, and lawyers serving at all levels of government.

Last  November 4, 2014, PALS joined in the San Francisco official visit of the Philippine Ambassador to the United States, the Honorable Jose L. Cuisia, Jr.! It was a Town Hall Meeting with the Ambassador in which he spoke on topics regarding the state of Philippines-US Relations.

Last November 1, 2014, PALS volunteered at FBANC & Glides’s community service event at Glide Memorial’s Daily Free Meals Program — serving meals to over 300 homeless individuals!

PALS and FBANC having a fabulous time while showing some support at the BALIF/AABA Fundraiser Extravaganza for LYRIC — a charitable organization that provides a wide array of social services to primarily very low income or homeless LGBTQ youth. Through its Youth Workforce Development Program, LYRIC provides LGBTQ youth paid job training internships.
